ROAD TO BROADWAY WORKSHOP SERIES

Our students were able to take class from the amazing Melanie Moore.  Melanie is a star from So You Think You Can Dance, Finding Neverland, Hello Dolly and many more Broadway Shows.  Her bright, energized spirit is infectious and it was the perfect way to start our year!

Some of our AP Students participated in a Theatre Workshop in New York City! 13 triple threats and their chaperones attended private workshops with Broadway/Vocal Directors as well as Agents, including classes taught by four fellow Kentuckians, Colton Ryan (DESOD ALUM), Ashley Kate Adams, Jacob Yates, and Haley Fish (DESOD ALUM).

Classes included:

  • Commercial Dance Class taught by Vegas and Broadway Veteran, Leroy Church

  • Theatre Dance Class taught by Broadway Veteran and AMDA Rep Albert Guerzon

  • Theatre Dance Class taught by Broadways Will Burton and DESOD Alum, Haley Fish

  • Vocal Technique and Audition Class taught by DESOD Alum, Colton Ryan, and Caitlin Houlahan, both stars of Girl From the North Country and Accompanist Jacob Yates from Rock of Ages

  • Viewpoints and Acting taught by Ashley Kate Adams

Our students were also privileged to attend FOUR Broadway Musicals: Beetlejuice, Frozen, Girl From the North Country, and Ain't To Proud!  DESOD Alum, Colton Ryan is a lead in Girl From the North Country , and it was absolutely amazing to watch him perform and such an inspiration for our students!

It was a wonderful weekend of motivation, inspiration and education; and DESOD is so proud to provide these opportunities for our students!
